Thermal Infrared Imaging : A new tool of medical science

In the modern era conventional sources of energy are diminishing. The major sources of energy are only non-conventional sources of energy. One of the new emerging sources of conventional energy is Infrared energy.

Before starting the focus on infrared energy, we should first know what Infrared is? Infrared is a type light energy or radiation Infrared (IR) radiation is electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is longer than that of visible light, but shorter than that of terahertz radiation and microwaves. The major characteristic of the infrared energy is its heating effect.

Infrared imaging is primarily used for both military and civilian purposes. Target acquisition, surveillance, night vision, homing and tracking are the major military applications which are being applicable with the help of Infrared imaging. On the other hand thermal efficiency analysis, remote temperature sensing, spectroscopy, and weather forecasting are other non-military uses. An important device which is based on infrared energy is infrared camera.

Thermal imaging cameras, which are also known as infrared cameras, are famous for their applications in medical care, firefighting, and astronomy. On the other hand, thermal imaging devices can also be used by commercial roofing inspectors to identify defects, moisture, leaks and mold. Interpreting infrared scans and suggesting remedial action for these common roof problems is easy with the help of this thermal infrared camera.

Thermal infrared imaging cameras work by measuring the amount of thermal radiation emitted by objects into the atmosphere. Then these devices represent these measurements graphically in the form of a colored image. Objects or parts of objects which are emitting more thermal radiation than other objects will often appear as a bright yellow, red, or white on a thermal infrared imaging camera. Area of an object that is emitting a low level of thermal radiation will often appear as a darker blue, purple, or green in graphical colored image. This new technology allows thermal infrared camera devices to provide a visual representation of heat and thermal energy. There are many more uses of the thermal infrared camera. Commercial roofing expert can use a thermal infrared imaging camera to identify and fix problems with installed roofs. Moisture in the fabric of the roof and building can be identified using the thermal infrared imaging device. The camera can also identify any air or heat leakage, due to holes or leaks in the
roof. This thus cut cost and save money and thus results in savings on energy bills.
The major specification of the thermal imaging technology is that it is quick and relatively inexpensive and also, it provides the additional benefit of being non-intrusive i.e. it does not require any type of deconstruction for checking the problems in a structure. Infrared technology also has major significant in many other fields. The very common use is of infrared is in communication channel, short-ranged wireless communication like TV remote or
wireless keyboard and mouse for computer. Unlocking of car doors via remote is also possible because of infrared signal transmission from you key chain to a receiver in the car.At last we can say that infrared technology is a boon for the modern era and it makes the everyday work so simple, quick and easy.
